A quick fix for the fuel tee's is to find a piece of steel rod that is a tight fit, slightly biggerthan the inside of the tee, think 6mm rod is the one, grind a soft point like a bullet on one end and proceed to tap it gently into the tee so as to slightly expand the tee, use a bit of grease to lube it a bit, works a treat, me and my Bro have done this on all our carb sets with 100% sucess rate. Cheers.

not sure what them holes do but they are clear.
As for the leak i just grabbed a bot of ordinary old whit thread tape and put a couple of turns on. fitted and sealed really well.
did a bit of exploring in the net to find out if it was petrol proof, and that lead to the yellow gas tape and a loctite product that was supposedly good for petrol. there were opinions and arguments to say yes and no but I thought bugger it, I had both the mentioned products so I  gave it a go.

I used both......hedging my bets. put a smear of loctite on then wrapped it tight in the gas tape. They fitted together nice and firm

I let it cure while I put the carbys back together.......there was one small heart palpitation moment when I thought Id lost one of the little springs for the choke indent thingy and then I gave it a bit of a test on the bench before refitting the carbs to the bike.

All turned out good so now I'm back to where I was.........very close to firing up

hey fellars, i think the small vent opposite
the air jet ur talking about is a port to allow air to go to
the emulsion tubes.

yes mate,, it,s a vent for the fuel bowl, {I,m led to believe}

I know there are other vents but it seems to matter if this one is blocked

Yep, I believe I did. After leaving the whole carby assembly in a drum of diesel over night to soften all the muck, every orifice was blown clean and dry with compressed air.

But now they are back off the bike again I'll double check. what's it do ? a vent? or?

whilst cleaning the carbs, did you clear the extremely small hole in the casting directly opposite the air jet in the rear bell of them, it,s not a jet, it,s down in the hole, almost need a torch to see it

Thanks fot the link, Ev
An O ring fix was what first crossed my mind, I slipped an O ring over the barb but it was too thick to go in.
That one on the yank site looks the go. I might even check out the link to the site the reply poster put up.

Hey Bryan
I thought I was going to find some rooted O rings in there too.....would've been too easy, but no, they are just rubber coated Tee's like in the Link Ev put up

EDIT...........Just checked the linked site and they're out of stock, sent an email to ask if they are planning to re-stock.

I haven't had to touch mine yet. I don't think they're readily available over here. Could be wrong about that,  but I found a thread on the Dot Com site about a DIY fix using O-rings! Should be right up your alley, mate. - CLICKAROO!

So close but yet so far.....
turned the fuel onto the carbs today and the "T" piece fuel supply pipes between 1&2 and 3&4 carbs are leaking like the proverbial sieve.
Ripped the carbys back out and the t pieces are a very loose fit.

Have any of you blokes had to replace these T pices before?

Currently have the 81 H standard (same colour as Xtian) completely stripped.  Head and barrels went in today for reco and rebore.

Frame is painted, now just waiting for that extremely rare commodity called time to commence the assembly stage.

Hey Eddy
Are you doing up a roundy or a standard?
My rebuild might have looked a bit back to front painting the top end first then working on it, but I wanted to seal the porous surface from greasy finger prints etc

Thanks,

Taking the head in tomorrow to get refurbed then get the barrels (courtesy of Dale) bead blasted then rebored then top end painted in anticipation of the rebuild.
