Just adding my bit to try and persuade guys to have a check.

Me, like Christian had no symptoms, just thought I would have the blood test whilst at the Doc's. That was when I was 48 years old. It came back positive and out goes the prostate.10 years later, all is well.

Big change in lifestyle, but shit loads better than being dead.

GUYS, GO AND GET A CHECK.

Christian, hope everything goes well, keep positive.

Benno

Xtian. I'm very pleased to hear your making a recovery. Hope the remainder of the treatment and tests go your way as I'm sure they will.

For my part I have the annual blood test and a colonoscopy every five years.  The bloke who sticks the camera up also probes about my prostrate.

So far they've only found out I really am an arsehole.

Here is a short list of statistics

http://www.prostate.org.au/articleLive/pages/Prostate-Cancer-Statistics.html

I can't emphasis enough the need for all blokes to get the blood test

Well 10 days in RPA and now a 3 to 6 month recovery and retraining regime.Went to the surgeon on Thursday he seemed quite pleased with the outcome
but still need a blood test in a month to see it hasn't spread.
Apparently it was quite aggressive .05mm away from trying to get into
the lymph nodes and blood supply or something like that, so he wants to
keep a close check on it.
Important is that I had no symptoms at all, just lucky I have a blood test every 6 months so tell all the blokes you know to get a check, 1 in 6 will have the problem
Stats
Now I am just tired, can't sleep all that well, sort of like when you are in that "waiting for the alarm to go off" mode of sleep.

Off work and at home totally BORED until Sept 30th.

Mine was quite advanced, took a bit of stuff out around it also.
So don't leave it too long
Got told it could be a 6 month training session but we will see.

Yep a friend of mine knows a few big wig doctors and they say the same thing, my answer is , pushbike riders, horse riders......and sitting in a car in the same position without being able move around or of the seat like you can on a bike. HMMMMMMM?????

Private parts??? nothing done around there, front or back just a nice little scare from the pubic bone area to the belly button.
That is were it hurts.
I would go into more detail  ;D ;D ;D

Hi Christian. Sounds like you're making good progress. The bladder retraining make take a while, but don't worry, it will work properly again, eventually. I had a mate in Brisbane who had a late diagnosis. Straight in within a week, got the op, all went well for him, but due to the severity, took him about three months before he had any control of his plumbing. His was advanced, though, so you should get sorted in much less time.
It's good that you're looking forward to jumping on your bike again, but, unless there's some form of super duper whoopie cushion that'll hold your private area completely clear of the seat, I wouldn't want to try it mate. It'll hurt, bad! There has been some discussion on the Ulysses site about alleged links between riding motorcycles and prostate trouble due to the pressure put on that area while sat on the seat for extended periods. I did say alleged, though.
Just keep your chin up mate! We're all thinking of you!

Hi Christian good to hear all has gone well, been thinking of you. I have temporary put mine on hold, with blessing from my specialist, but will ramp it up again in acouple of months. Best medicine is do what you love. What could be better than jumping on an excess, & going for a squirt!!! Once one is physically fit. Cheers Dennis
