I could be interested, depending on price.

As far as mountings go, I'm pretty sure that in addition to the exhaust ports and rear footpeg hangers, there was a mid-mounting on the lower frame tubes on each side, under the engine.

My RH has a 4 into 1 on it, but there are definitely mounting pads in the location I just mentioned and I'm sure they were for the original exhaust system.

Paul,
When they built the pipes for the Ducati, they were able to look inside the "muffler" (thats a broad term for a gianelli pipe!) fairly easily. The cutaway drawing you now have will help them immeasurably.
They will be able to provide baffling very close to the original Im sure.
The good thing is once the jig is made its game on for a few more.
They are a really good, reliable team and if there are "teething troubles" as I had with a few fractures of weld /penetration issues, they fixed them immediately with no cost.
I would be interested to know the cost as I wouldnt mind a decent set of original stlye pipes for mine.
They are wizards in stainless but it is expensive. So keep me informed of the costs>
regards
Grant

Not on mine, though mine are the same as Brians, only normal chrome, not black chrome.
Dunno if the standards have any extra mounts due to the longer mufflers

@ Eveready1100:

Not cutting mine either, just offered to pull a rusty set, still got the originals, which were removed from new ( and refitted for a Marshall system ) in near to mint condition  :D

I saw a thread on the dot com site some time ago and there were some pics of a cutaway muffler in it. ---Found it! They're not definitive in what they are, but give some insight into what goes on inside the mufflers at least - CLICK FOR THREAD

Actually, in hindsight, they may be of some use to an exhaust builder who could use the theory at least to come up with something comparable.

P.S. I'm not cutting mine open for anyone.

G,day Jan
That's a very generous gesture, Thankyou. like I said it's still  early days. see if there is any interest and  what it would cost to have a system made.

Melbxs you must have one of the few remaining originals still in service, yes I have a standard.

If it shows impossible to find cutaway drawings/pics, there must be someone down-under, who has an original set in unusable/very bad condition hanging around, for sentimental reasons only, that you can have for such an admirable purpose.  ;)

If the info you are looking for is concerning the standard XS11 exhausts (E-model), and you can`t find any down there, and you are sincere of your project even after getting a cost estimate from the exhaust-shop, i`ll pull a rusty set from the shelves, and cut it in half for you to provide photos, or ship it to you intact for postage costs only (might be somewhat pricey given the distance though  :-[ )

Regards Jan

I think you have a standard though?

Only early days yet, but I've had a brief discussion with exhaust shop here in Bathurst recommended by Grant (AussieXS11) about making a complete replica system.

I need some help, namely good quality pics of a fitted oirginal system. from all angles to help the fabricator get it right.

You can PM them to me or I can pick em up off here or follow suggested  links

I will leave my bike at the shop (with the oil cooler on so final product will fit all) as the mannequin
If I can give the guy an indication of how many of you might be interested he may even make a jig to make more.

Of course this all depends on price. I havent discussed material (S/S or mild steel for chroming)   with him yet but will ask fo a quote for both. chroming might be up to the end user.

So....anyone?
