Still undecided, but removing stuff like pipes, sump etc that have to come off either way while I decide, started to pull the carbs that gave me grief while installing and halted proceedings to think maybe flipping is the go  :-\

from way back, easy peasy whip off tank seat bars and roll the
old tart over...

Now that you've sorted Te RH you could use some bush mechanics and use the R H to drive the genie. That would be a thread, and you would get some return on your investment

Much improved, but still the slightest stutter down low in the rpm range, runs fine up to 4500 - 5000, (still running in a new bottom end) and idles when i come to a stop. Plugs are still dark at No1 then get progressively less dark across to No4. So as far as I'm concerned  and 15 months later the RH is rehabilitated compared to the  No back brakes, leaking forks, jumping into gear, broken switch block, missing fuse box, awol uni joint cover, worn out primary chain, broken exhaust thing I started with  :o

Went through my carbys again and found nothing wrong except the float heights were a bit out, reset all floats exactly the same at 23.5 mm and was surprised to see this. Given there was this much variation in the true levels compared to how closely the float heights were set, I decided not to chase my tail to get them the same across all 4. Road test tomorrow and fingers crossed

Amongst your collection of bikes...can you take a known working set off...and install them to eliminate if it is fuel or electrical ?
Glad that fault finding recommendation came in handy....and you actually did it.
Well done brudda..

Well the old carby swaperoony trick confirmed the problem is in the carbys (big thanks to Eddy for the loaner carbys)
Eddy I did a quick rudimentary check of the carbs, removed bowls, checked the dip tube and orifice in the bowls were clear, blew carby cleaner and air through all the jets (without removing) and all were clear, pulled all the mixture screws, all tips intact.
Threw 'em on,  colourtuned and synched, and bike ran like it should.
Now to do my own set........

Hey jonesy have you pulled pilot screws out to check for broken tips?
I don't know about these rh carbs  but it is definitely a problem with the std's.
