If all else fails, I have about 50 carb bodies around here. If I have one it would take a lot of time to get there via postal services, but would be happy to send one if I have one in good condition. Not all 50 are usable but many parts of them are, and I would just have to make sure the various jets etc. were not seized. Let me know if I can be of help.

not a good start Nixy   a busted float post is usualy game over  depending on where and the angle of the break   ok  go to the UK XS site  and have look in the work shop sect a few have had similar dramas  and improvised some good fixes

only replacable with  another carb body  they are a die cast alloy mold

go into my library, there is a quick fix broken post in there,
youtube has a miriad of other fix solutions also,

+ 1 on Tim, the diaphragm only opens on the intake stroke of the motor,

all questions can be answered here by guys that work on them all the time,, nothing to stop you getting a second opinion though

the vacuum  opens and closes the diaphragm   ie the motor running the vacuum pulls open the diaphragm   engine off no vacuum and the diaphragm closes  no fuel flow  but sometimes they do leak  check steptoe's gallery

Right.  I got the tank off and taps shut off OK do the vacuum hoses effect the flow through the taps ? Onto carbies , rain/cold yum.  Do I keep on this site or go to a more mechanical site
