Thanks Errol your a champion. Rare spares is the go and $4 is a good enough price just don't like the $10 postage. It said to pm them for postage cost as well so maybe they will drop the price?
I think the 3/16 will the the go. That's almost 5mm, the old ones where 6 mm ID the post is just over 5mm so that seems like the safest bet.
I should have them (or another) ordered soon and I will let you know how they go.

Ok, I found some "vacuum caps" listed. Not sure exactly what size but have a look around once you're there. Seller is Rare Spares, so quality may be better than the cheap stuff others have tried - CLICKY

LOL no I was just getting a pic, I was being lazy as the camera needs the batteries changed but then rememberd I already had a picture.

It was suggested that these can be old, hard and leak. Pretty sure mine may fit into that so looking for new ones.
I have searched localy and on the internet to no avail. Should I use a different name or does anyone know where to buy them please.
