It feels great! It matches up to the RH bars perfectly for me @ 5' 9". I did that trip to Mt. Isa (2 x 2000k weekends) and I never noticed any issues with the feet.
It's also got more clearance too, as it touches down the centre stand arm on the left side and the exhaust heat shield bolts on the right when playing in the fun stuff. The pegs are slightly shorter than the XS ones so also helps keep them off the deck.

Hmmmm.. I was just having a look around and found some comparison pics from the two models.
Looks like mine is the bodgy one alright.

Here's the gearshift side of mine. Looks like a custom job to me

About max's pipes, the headers are equal length tubes which really makes them a work of art alright.

that is unusual for the pedals
heres a link of my bike cause i cant post pics atm
do the peg set up look familiar?

http://xs1100.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=20.0

the rh was suppose to have higher pegs than the specials
so maybe someones changed something on one of the  bikes
did u get any side shots of either bike?

if that exhaust is handmade then its a work of art
again all the bikes look great especially being able to
get the 3 models 2gether.

Pete. those photos don't do Max's XS justice. It's much nicer in the flesh. I was really impressed with the seat, which is one of the UK Ebay's new E model seats that's been mentioned a bit on the UK site. I'd thoroughly recommend one for anyone after a seat & base for a Standard. Top quality stuff indeed!
The exhaust really surprised me as, though it looks it would be a really loud screamer of a thing, it was quite respectable when Max fired it up and rode up the driveway, though he was taking it easy.
Full points to Max there as he fabbed the pipes himself and ingeniously threaded it in and around the bike leaving full access to oil filter and centrestand without it hanging down at all.
It was good to have the three different models there and a fair bit of time was spent playing spot the difference between them. One of the little things that have both Steptoe and myself a bit baffled is that why would my bike, which was originally a cruiser style bike have the footpegs about an inch further back than Geoff's RH which is a sport bike?
We'll have to get to the bottom of that one next time.

Hello everyone,  I've just signed up here, my name is Max, have been an xs owner for a while, my first one was back in 81, My brother now owns that bike after it had been through 2 other owners since i sold it in about 86, it's a 79, it came with a blow motor and a crashed spare bike, it's back on the road now, I have two bikes, a 78 model i bought a few years ago, it was running when i got it but had no 2nd gear ( sound familiar!) it's now only about a week or two off being on the road, ;D  and i just picked up my second bike yesterday :D it's an 80, it had been sitting in an open farm shed for about 10 years, not a pretty site, but despite that it,s in fairly good condition, although the head had been sitting on the seat for all that time, when i sort out how to get pics off my phone and onto the computer i'll post some pics. Can anyone tell me where to get a fork brace? it has to be cheap tho, i'm drawing up some plans to make my own but would rather just buy one and bolt it on! If their hard to find and anyone else wants one let me know and i'll make a few. cheers,  Max,     ps. i live in bundaberg, qld.
