I found this stuff to be a near exact match to the engine cases on my old E model.

It looks nice and should be easy to clean.

I took the punt on gloss paint, the VHT engine paint. It looks nearly origional to the rest of the crankcase paint.

stuff it up??? :o

you can't stuff it up,, a bit more polish on the rag and rub a bit harder,, not that you rub hard to start with,, it's all about constant rubbing, not how hard you rub

if all else fails, read the instructions,,,,,,,,,,, yes I know, stop yelling  :D

rub the polish till it goes black, keep going till it starts to dry and rub off, then use your wipe off rag

it does look good

I tried a section of fork leg, with some really bad oxide.
Used a light dishwasher pad, then paint stipper, then the 2 "soap bar" polishing compounds, turns out great.

Mate Wayne bought some of the "Purple Chrome" polish, about $25 for a smallish bottle for his exhausts.

That De oxidiser in the green bottle is just what I need.

If I stuff them up, I'll just take them to the pros LOL LOL

those polishes for me still work better
when the alloy has been sanded lightly initially
i use something similar to a scourer, they come in
3 colours from course to fine and depending on how bad
the alloy is pitted or scratched depends on what grade i use,
those polishes arent 2 cheap from memory around 50 for both bottles
the forks were done with a buffer on the grinder for a mirror finish,
the only problem is once u start, its hard to stop and looks so much better
than chrome.

hi Ken,, if you go back to the pics of Petes' with the 2 bottles of polish, the green  is a de-oxidizer, step 1,

this is what we prepare the trucks alloy with before polishing with the purple, step 2

put step 1 on liberally with a chux, the alloy will turn an opaque white, wait a bit, then polish off with step 2

will come up with the same finish as the fork legs,,which btw, look great  8)

Hi Peter,

I'll be doing the forks on the bike when I take some bits to the Chromers in 2 weeks.
I had a local crowd here polish the forks on the FJR for $60.00 and they turned out great.
So easy to keep clean and they look nice.

I've bought all the gear to do the polishing, have to get rid of the oxides on the forks.

Cheers

im using a small buffer on the drill
with brown and white compound for polishing.

autosol works well for chrome but i find it will scratch the alloy,
ive used mothers polish thats works good, but nothing will
bring up the shine like a buff does.
