Dunno know what they're worth nowadays or if they even still make them
but brown 1.5ohm dynacoils pack a punch about 3 times the voltage of the crusty
old factory yamaha ones and you ditch the B.S. ballast resistor when you
slap them in,  the yanks on the yank xs11 site pissed their panties and
wrung their hands and said i was wrong and you had to use the 3 ohm
ones or else the bike would fry the black box and explode into raging
flames but mine have worked brilliantly and trouble-free for 30 years...
funny that...

Hi all
Got some juju going on with my 78 1100e
Having lots of intermittent spark problems
When running bike is going well
Sometimes bike will not start even after just been running
Sometimes will not start at all cold
Have gone over while wiring loom and cleaned plugs and connectors
Have gone over pickup wires and repaired some cracks
Have checked pickup ohms at tci plug and are in spec
Have checked other plugs at tci box and are in spec
Have changed spark plugs
Have checked ballast resistor ohm’s and is in spec
Have cleaned and double cleaned kill switch and ignition barrel
Have new ngk plug caps on
Have removed tip over switch as couldn’t get a ohmage of that
Have cleaned and checked battery grounding to frame and engine case
Battery is reasonably new and holding charge ok
When no spark it is across all four plugs
Every thing else electrical works on the bike as it should even when no spark
Except for fuel gauge which has never worked since I have owned it
Tank sender unit has ohm readings so is most likely the diode in the headlight bucket which I have not replaced yet
And have been annoying the crap out of Christian and Geoff and Tim
Putting it up here for any hot tips
So I don’t start hitting the bastard with a hammer

Cheers
Glenn
