Play with it a bit Bryan, it’s a very light oil, about 3 to 5 weight I think, penetrates really well but evaporates and drys. Easy to wipe off surfaces, stays in threads of nuts and bolts.

Makzy - ATF you say eh.......(like Homer Simpson would say it) That's great news, I've a couple of litres languishing here that I used to use as fork oil in the XS
I knew I would find a use for it.

Yes, Swansea is nasty, nothing to stop the Southerlies.
Not much you can do except keep em washed & sealed up in an air tight room, easy to say !
I grew up in Merewether & same as Swansea, just part of the price you pay for being so close to the salt.
I'm in Cardiff now & that's enough away we don't suffer any effects of the salt

This is off the subject of motorcycles but any lanolin based product is very good for lots of things, but the best rust preventive and penitrating fluid is ATF. I’ve used it for about 30 yrs now on almost everything, I bought a box trailer when I was 15 and every couple of years I would flip it over and pour used ATF all over the underside and it it had its first new floor 5 years ago, that’s 40 years! I also use it to cote things like tools, rifles, farm machinery, my lathe and mill, and I make a penatrating spray 50/ 50 used ATF & kerro, better than anything you can buy in a can, and it doesn’t leave a greasy film, is easily wiped of to leave a nice shine that doesn’t attract dirt and dust. I should patent the shit!

Thats interesting Will, the place I was referring to where I often frequent is just down the road at swansea, ocean on one side and salt water lake on the other.
And it was the tools in the shed covered in surface rust where I noticed it the most, not to mention completely destroying a non gal boat trailer. I retired the boat trailer to the farm where it is now a water cart with one of those white square plastic 1000 ltr tanks where the tinny used to sit
I've used onyx, but maybe not often enough.

We're in Newcastle NSW on the coast I it can be a problem.
WD40 on the aluminium burns off with heat & doesn't build up.
Haven't used the Lanolin on the bikes but have done on other tools etc & it's a bit messy & smells.
Regular washing with detergent with a wax in it will remove the salt & help seal the surfaces.
I don't really have any great issues with corrosion as I keep them covered to the ground with old cotton bed sheets & Aldi bike covers, seems to work for me

Jones, mate
wool fat is the answer - lanolin spray and wipe over everywhere - it'll help keep road scum at bay as well
