yes the stock lock-nut tensioner is fine as-is,
it's only 12 pounds tightened and she's solid as rock,
also with new camchain there's only a few mm's
 free-play and even a worn-as chain there's still only
12mm total of plunger adjustment. some say they see where the plunger has slipped on the adjuster bolt, bollocks it's just grooves where goons have cranked 70 pounds on the bolt, if the plunger's at full adjust it's the fool owners fault,  you'll notice it's only the ham-fisted yanks on .com that have cam-tensioner trouble cackle cackle

ever seen an auto-tensioner on a race-bike, no coz auto-tensioners are sloppy, rattly and weak, just as bad as as puny delicate ball-bearings on a steering stem.. ask jonesey, he fully agrees..
and the yanks on the 11.com rant and rave that auto-tensioners are the most amazing invention in all of world history,  but none of them have ever done more than a couple hundred miles per year and they've  never revved their engines over 5 grand    ;D

oops, I meant my old GSX1100E had the 22l tank. And the cam chain adjustment makes sense. I remember my 84 GPZ900R needed new cam chain tensioners. About the only thing that ever went wrong with it.That and needing the tank welded due to poor quality steel apparently..and tanks were impossible to find at the time . How many litres do we have on reserve? I always assumed 4 but i ran out of motion lotion a while back after only about 15  kms. I reckon closer to 2 litres. Not recommended ------heavy bastard to push.
On leccy matters, my battery ( I think ..) is cactus. I lost my battery tester but the multi meter gives me around 13 to 13.5 volts at a high idle with lights on.  Battery is maybe 2 years old; one of those u-beaut yellow sealed ones.. I used to get at least 2 years out of the cheap Chinese ones. My old mate Rosco fixed the wiring from altenator to battery a while back. Im guessing I should just buy a new battery but $ is tight and rego just expired today.
What are you selling?? I'll give you $208......maybe

Chrisso, The reason for the dual fuel taps is because of the high tunnel under the tank to clear the frame, which would otherwise leave a few litres of fuel sitting unused in the far side of the tank from a single tap.
Your old XS1100E must have had a foreign tank fitted to it, as the smaller yank tank is a tad over 20 litres, and the local ones holding 24. All XS1100 tanks either the 15 litre Sport / Specials, or the 20/ 24 litre Standard tanks had dual fuel taps. None had single taps.
Auto Camchain adjusters?? why complicate a simple and effective design which allows owners to keep track of any nuances with the camchain?

XS 1100 fuel system and similar...

Howdy all. To quote Steptoe from The Rally Report--'' unbeknown to me my fuel cap well has a blocked drain pipe, which has lead to a significant amount of rain water dribbling into the tank at the filler cap, I don,t know how much but enough to make it run like a hairy goat with a cold, I,ve no idea how crap gets into the bowl of #3 running through the gauze at the petcock then in line filters and gauze at the bowl seat but it was more than enough to stop the seat sealing, ''                   Ive had the same problem due to the strange design of the tank filler surround and a blocked drain line. Ive had other 70's and 80's Jap 4's and none of them had a system like this, ?. Also why does the XS have 2 fuel taps?? Is this due to the tank size? My old XS1100E had the 22 l  tank but only one tap. . One more question; why do XS's not have auto cam chain adjusters??.
Mine also used to let water into the sump during heavy rain or prolonged parking thru the clutch cable cover. Silicon fixed that.
