thx Miti
nice and simple - I am pretty sure we need indicators here - and the ducktail or part thereof needs to extend past the wheel.

I tried those Renthal type bars on mine - turned me into a windsock at speed - not bad in the twisties tho

MP suggested that moving the top shock mount forward was a good thing

That's whats commonly known as a "Death Wish"  ???
Tootle down the road.....holding one arm out to indicate and make a turn .
Me........I like to have 2 hands on the bars while cornering . :D
Still........ nothing that can t be added on to the bike by a reasonably competent punter.
But then I saw this............and I thought.....what a pussy I am.

Nope... No indicators at all... The tail-light is OEM XJR, but it's been modified with LED Stop/Tail and Reg. Plate lights... The bike even had the indicator switch lever removed from the switch housing... ::)

I m guessing the rear indicators are LEDS and are in the rear ductail.....not sure if that would comply here in Aus.

Here y'go Bryan...

Please excuse my shakey phone pics... We pulled the bike to bits tonight and the angle grinder will be freeing the XJR parts tomorrow...

There are a couple of "locating" welds between the seat rails of both frames, but the main strength comes from the 3mm steel plates added on the ouside... I don't think the shock mounts have been touched, they just look more forward with that great big arse end on the bike... '-)

Hope that helps

hey Miti
I would like to see some pics of that seat/ducktail conversion without the plastics and seat.
Have the top shock mounts been moved forward?
It appears that they may have been.
thx
Bryan ;D

XJR Tailpiece and Seat Conversion for XS1100.
« Reply #1 on: August 21, 2014, 02:28:02 AM »
Hi Guys;

A good friend of mine has recently bought this bike:

and I'm afraid it'll be donating its engine to that same friend's trike very shortly...

Other parts will also be available, but I knew that some folk on the xs11.com site were quite taken with the tailpiece/seat mods, so I thought I'd let you know that it'll be available to buy very soon...

Some details:

The tailpiece is from an XJR1300 and is still fitted to the seat rails from that bike. These rails have been welded on top of the original XS seat rails, which have been fore-shortened to a point just after the original top shock mounts... The mod has also required that the TCI unit be removed from it's original mount on the rear mudguard (fender) and that is sitting where the toolbox would normally be.

It'll require similar modification to the frame of any XS11 from it's planned to fit it to.

The seat is also XJR, but it's been shortened at the front to to fit against an XS1100 tank. (2H9 shown in photo).

So, if you're interested, drop me a line... Happy to ship internationally...
