Hi beemeerr11 (Lou) & excess.11

Yes that would have been me at the traffic lights doing my daily run to work, usually in a hurry.
Sorry I did not chat for longer.
You may have noticed recently that the fairing is off after an altercation with a taxi.
Smashed fiberglass fairing, shattered screen, bent bars, hand indentation in side of petrol tank, broken fins on head, smashed spark plug & cap.

Bugger.

http://s28.photobucket.com/user/Bummer/media/IMG_2520_zpsb3csu8d1.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

Picked up the bits and continued to work. She still ran fine.
So riding without a fairing in winter has not been fun. Fortunately the heated hand grips still work.
I have sourced the hard to find bits but have not had time to fit them yet.

The newly made - 1974 Norton Commando John Player Special - fairings with dash were made by a Shearer in Gundagai who bought all the old fibregalss mounts from "Classic Race Fibreglass" in Philip Island. Pat also made me some new XS1100 std model fibreglass seat bases after I spotted the mould hanging there in his shed.
You can find Pat on ebay as "avenue748patrick" and he does some nice work.

The new fairing screens come from Peter in Melbourne from "Screensforbikes". Peter was able mould the screens to my specifications.

Everything else I have had to remake. The handle bars, fairing framework.
I still need a new petrol tank and the cylinder head will need to be changed.

All bar one of the listed bikes still run and are ridden around the farm but only the XS is registered.
I try to get out with the nephews for a spot of trail bike riding when I can, fire trails and single track stuff.
They turn up with their new bikes and I choose a dinosaur from the shed and show them how it used to be done.

Unfortunately you just cannot buy time.

Cheers

John

Hey Bummer,

Would I be right in saying that we have briefly spoken about Xs's  a couple of times at the lights on our way to work, and I've been on one of my BMs and not the XS?

Anyway enjoy the forum, by the look of your other bikes, you should come and join me in a couple of Vintage Enduro's? VINDURO  have a look at http://forum.ozvmx.com/

Cheers

Lou
