The red/yellow wire should "Not" be connected to the battery side of the solenoid. When wired correctly it provides "temporary" power to the TCI unit whilst the starter motor is being cranked.......after which that power disconnects on "Run". By having this cable incorrectly connected permanently supplying power to the tci you may of overheated and damaged an internal component .DO NOT CONNECT THE RED /YELLOW wire TO THE BATTERY CABLE AT THE TCI UNIT.Do you have a spare "known working " tci unit to swap over?Do you have the ballast resistor in cct or is it removed with the 2 wires joined together ?
