How old am I :o
I still remember the '70s when us rebels complied with having mirrors by attaching those small plastic dentist's mirrors to the bars.
And lets not forget the straight out 4-1 Megaphone, fur lined firemens' boots and cut off denim jackets eh ???
And sssshhh lets not go there again - Front number plates

A little info before committing to a purchase ............
There are 2 different length mirrors available ....(in regard to the longest part of the mirror arm)...the shorter of which will result in you having a nice view of your forearms no matter how you adjust them.
The USA XS1100 (god bless em ) had wider ( read crappier) stock handlebars and thus a shorter length mirror stem .
As most of the mirrors are aftermarket or possibly (but doubtful ) NOS from the good ol USA you will need to carefully consider these purchases in conjunction with the handlebars you have on your bike.
Mirrors on a motorbike are a "life or death " item.
Speaking of which you ll also have to make sure you don t end up with the ............"objects in the mirror may be closer than you think" type.
Choose carefully..........your life may depend on it.

I think the squarer tank xs is one of the sexiest bikes I've ever seen. It's the mirrors and maybe the indicators on the front that let it down. Then again that's a bit like saying I don't like the mole on Cindy Crawford.

Fortunately these bikes in their day had the nickname "the pig"...........(due to wallowing in sweepers at speed and looks )
I say fortunately..........because ...........just like a "pit bull" seems beautiful to some...............it s ass backwards ugly to others .
These bikes share a similar appeal ......which keeps the hoards of profiteers from investing in these machines and blowing prices sky high .
To me .......what you call ugly...... is damn beautiful ......and I can only hope it s ugliness lives on.
LONG LIVE THE PIG!!!!!
(Just my thoughts)

Looking at new mirrors for my 79 xs. It seems from most pics the standard mirrors on this model have the dog leg In them that brings them 2 or so inches closer to the rider. I basically want to keep it stock so will source some if I can but dear god they're ugly lol. Thoughts?
