I've heard plenty of horror stories about these devices... They're marketed all over the worls (under various different trade names) and the most high-profile related accident I know of was Billy Connolly crashing his Boom trike when he was filming his "Route 66" Sseries... He mentions it here:

Incidentally, one of my good pals here in Scotland works for the firm that make/retail those in the UK and he wouldn't dream of using one on his ol' Electra-Glide...

Fred you may have brought up a very important point here.
Both Bryan's and my incidents happened after recently fitting the devices - CLICK for STORY
In my case, it was only about 20klms.
John's moment also happened on his first trip with his unit fitted, so perhaps our "Do not fit these or you'll die" warnings may be a tad over the top.
Like you said, it took you time to get accustomed to the unit, and probably tweak the angle of the unit so it doesn't accidently push the throttle open as you apply the front brake.

That said, i'm never going to fit mine back onto the bike. It can stay right here as a reminder of that day.

On the bottom shelf with my old coils, plug caps etc.

Revised warning would read " upon fitment of this device, ensure that you take the time to adjust the mounting so as not to interfere with throttle operation while squeezing front brake lever. Please test thoroughly in a safe area before venturing onto open roads"

Can't say I've had the same problem guys.

Had mine on for about 4 years now am very happy with it. Takes the pressure off on those long boring highway trips so common these days when we want to get anywhere (Usually in a hurry) ::)

Having said that, it did take a bit of getting used to in the twisties when set up for freeway speeds.

Then again though it's only a Velcro rip to take it off if you're going for a hoon and I've actually put a mark on it and on the throttle so I can line it up again quickly without testing wrist positions a the speed I want to ride at.

I guess like most things it's not perfect, otherwise we'd all have one eh.

Only asking because my brother in law uses one but is there any way that the brake lever positioning could either aggravate or help the situation? I will be enjoying Christmas with him and we always talk bikes at some point. Would be good info to possibly help him.

The Saturday before the trip I needed some new Glasses or goggles to suit my Open face yes open
Face. Went to the local accessory shop and was shown ugly fish eyewear sun glasses which have a
Padding around the rims and a useful strap ,very happy apart from a bit of a sore bridge of the nose.

To what I need to let you all know, after Bryan and Errol showed me the error of my purchase of
The Throttle Boss for $12.95. I was looking for something to help rest my wrist on the throttle on
Those long hauls up the highway on a steady throttle setting the sales man showed me a utube video
On a great cruise control for $30which looks good . and then showed me the Throttle Boss which I thought was just what
I needed! Big Mistake I hope the above mentioned will relate their stories as after they told me i was
Convinced to remove this item even though I thought it was great and had no wrist problems coming
Up the M1 from the Sunny Gold Coast to Brisvagis.

On my trip with Bryan I had a nasty experience on a corner which I put down to my fear of  downhill tight corners: I was caught up in some bike traffic (F//Ing Harley riders half of them where
Shiite and the others where quicker than me) but I got past them all on the straight and some road works and was going well
But on the decent nearing the bottom on a tight right hander I heard a loud scraping sound behind me
And looked in my mirror shit. I was approaching the apex throttled off  fu?/ ( this is the fault) applied
Front brake, at time unaware of fault. Experienced a forcing off to the left which I now realise is as I
Applied the front brake with the Boss fitted it opened the throttle causing a move to the left>> I
Survived and at first thought it was my fears that caused this but Sunday night thinking of the great
Day, it fell in to place. A tradesman should not blame his tools but the throttle boss is Shit...

Thanks
