I hadn't had a chance to test out the rig since fitting the longer shocks to the back of the bike, so I got the opportunity to get out to my favourite set of twisties to see if raising the back of the bike would upset its handling when pressed.
I also got to try out this little number........
^ An Oregon Scientific ATC2k sport camera that I'd picked up some time ago, but never have had the time to muck around with it
Here's a sample of footage taken with the camera mounted on the helmet -
CLICKAs you can see, it has a very narrow lens angle which is why you can't see most of what's going on.
As you can hear, sound is abysmal, but I have since found via the net, how to modify the microphone to get better quality. It's because the camera is totally waterproof and has a rubber membrane covering the mike. Removal of it is supposed to be simple and I'll get back to you with the results.
Also, due to the fact that there is no viewing screen on the camera, I had to wait till I got it back home and on the computer to be disappointed with the result.
Also, there are sections of the vid that look like I'm doing a bit of a head shake thing. It's just the dinky rubber mounting strap letting the camera shake against my helmet.
Next up, I went back out with the camera mounted on a pipe strapped to my rack to see if it would settle the image shaking down a bit, and to see if the sound was any better closer to the exhausts.
Take 1 -
CLICKResult = Better image but the sound is still hopeless, hopefully the mods will fix this when I get to it.
Take 2 -
CLICKResult = Somehow got a new noise. Must be interference from the ignition unit or something. Plus I'll have to mount it a bit lower / wider out, or have my arm amputated to get a better view. Oh well, it'll give me something else to play around with when I get the time, if I get the time.
Oh, yeah. The bike handled great with the trailer on despite the towball height being raised about 2 inches from where it was originally, despite my concern about upsetting the linear forces etc, so all is good.
