OK PLatinum spark plugs have been in for 15 months  still the same colour and priced two dollars more than NGK's.  Im not sure if performance has changed it still feels the same acceleration etc start up first time I think I will stick with them and get a new set for Bourke. Talking to a petrol head the other day he's a performance nut with his cars he marks the spark plug with a texter pen showing the open end of the electrode and tightens up with the mark facing inlet valve. He maintains a miniscal improvement due to spark facing fuel and not the back of the electrode. I know we are not riding extreme bikes but interesting talking with him Coops.

Jonesy.........i see where your goin with the loose plug thingy...your a man ahead of your time.
Why didn t i think of it!!!!.............
Manually adjustable spark plugs whilst your riding and under load.....i get .......i get it!!!
Head down the road  grabbin a handfull of throttle.........then you reach down and spin the plugs until you feel the most power...WOW!!!
I feel soooooo stupid...
Let us know how you get on with that .
If you could take some vid of it all while your" ridin an twiddlin".....would be most appreciated and fekkin spectacular.
Hey xtian..........how can we get some xtra smileys on here like the UK site ?......can t find one of ours on here that applies to this groundbreaking feat of pioneer engineering!

I only read one article briefly about indexing and was wondering how you blokes interperet the position of the electrode?
Like eg 1 with the base of the electrode (I spose thats what they call where the bendy bit is attached to the thready bit?) as far out of the gas flow as possible

Or Eg2  inline with the flow but the open side facing into the flow?

Hey Jeff
Wouldnt matter if I had to leave one a bit loose so long is it was lined up all proper n that would it?

Not quite Jonesy...........but good try.
Shims/washers are used to correctly orientate the plug ,so correct torque can still be maintained, along with marking the electrode positioning.Let us know how you go....you may need some contact adhesive on your handgrips..just so you can keep holding on under that anticipated extreme power gain.

just googled it too.

And all you need is a texta and subtle application of tightness doing the plug up to get the tip in the right position and your indexed.

You blokes will have to get used to seeing my number plate disappear into the distance with all the power I'm going to gain. I'll wait for ya's in Bourke. :P

You can have your rid'n em, unobtanium and plat'n em plugs

gimme a garden variety champion and a black texta any day.

what is "indexing plugs"?
 ???

I have run the Iridium units in Lucreca - plugs were lasting only a couple of months (sorry no km) when the engine was fresh...(bored, balanced, lightened crank, flowed/shaved head, hot cam etc)
The iridium units definitely outlast the "normal" ones by a country mile...

sorry - thats all I have...
