I have #489 and #211.

The one currently on ebay is #480 with matching engine.

I would take a fair bit of work to get this one back to original.

Steptoe, you're wrong mate  ;D  (well you did ask)

Yamaha used alphabetic years for their models so 1978 is E, 1979 F,  1980 G and 1981 is H
They added "S" at the front for "Special" models and "L" for "Midnight Specials".  So the "H" in "RH" stands for 1981.

The northern hemisphere version of the RH is the 5K7 "Sport" model.

There's a list of models here and the parts list for the RH is here

I just picked up another RH frame and engine number is 5N5 945 and the build date is 04/1982, so if we go off this method, does that mean I've just have really rear  XS1100 RI????? (LOL)

 8) Found another one in Albury yesterday, think it was #457. Is for sale, about $1000, needs ign rotor, stator and cover. If interested let me know and I will get contact details. Supposedly been rebuilt with big bore kit and not even run in properly, will check on this. No, not buying myself unless someone buys XJR1200 or FJ1100, cant afford and dont have space.

I don't think those numbers can be relied upon. I think there were way fewer in Australia than 899 or 999.

There are RH's in Japan, and we noticed that some of them were sold in 1983. Almost as if some of the RH's produced weren't shipped to Aus and were later sold cheap in Japan.

Also the numbers seem to co-incidental that they end at 999.

Definitely a mystery.

I think they also sold the RH in Japan. There was a site in Japanese and the guy had one of the nicest original RH's I have ever seen.

The RH series numbering started at 5N5-000101, so that makes Christian's the 899th RH.  :D
