Unreal, I actually saw that bike when Mark had it and he had it for sale.
Was in tidy condition and I think mechanically quite sound too.
I know him well and could put you in touch if you dont have his number.

Hey Grant,
Yeah I bought a E model in (members bikes-just arrived)
my enquiry was more out of curiosity and info gathering for later reference.
Thanks for the offer with the CDI loan and likewise if you ever need to do a part swap for trouble shooting.

My bike used to be in Lithgow too. Mark Dean owned it for a while......small world ay.

Here's some of the cheaper ones in the USA and Canada.

Be sure to ask for USPS postage costs before you buy, often it is a lot cheaper than the quoted postage because the EBay postage calculator is a bit creative with the numbers.

Thanks for clearing that up Pete.

Still be daft to buy a later model TCI when an older model plugs straight in, will be cheaper and won't require you to also buy the timing components off a late model bike.

If you had one on the shelf in the shed, I'd say go for it.

the vac advance is fitted to all the xs models xcept the xj,
but the later model 81 got rid of the mech adv unit,
they will interchange if u swap over the timing components,
but from memory the wiring to the tci is not exact between models,
nothing drastic they just need to be changed around.

Probably better to get an older model TCI, because they sell much cheaper and you won't have to get the vaccum advance installed (I reckon that would cost you a good few quid).

Should just be a matter of pulling the timing cover, remove the pointer, undoing the centre bolt and pulling the assembly off the shaft.
Gurus, please step in if I'm mistaken.

It will fit any XS11. You just have to change the advance unit to the later fixed type to  match it up.

Are these interchangable with other year model bikes......any subtle differences, would it work on 78 model for example?
