Hi Rockman it depends on how handy you are with the spanners, you have to turn the bike over to do the job, would be very hard to do in uprite position, not impossible tho, you might need some spare parts tho, when we did mine the main prob was the selector fork bent and worn nearly half thickness, luckilly i had another gearbox that had good gears and fork, i just tidied up the dogs with small cutting disc used like a grinding wheell and small dremel bit in a drill, it all works ok, you really won't know whats in there till you get it apart , if you do turn the bike upside down the oil in the final drive might leak out of it's breather, drain it first then put new oil in when job is finished, wouldn't hurt and doesn't cost much,  welcome to the world of xsesses!

My gearbox jumps out of second. Fairly common for these it seems. Has anybody here tried the "dremel fix" the yank forum goes on about? Mainly I want to know if it is as straightforward as they recon.

The bike is set up with a sidecar for the Scrapheap ride to Cameron Corner over easter and I want to know if I try to fix it before I go or double shift from 1st to 3rd for the ride and fix it when I get back.
