'Tis alright, Peter. I've just been havin a browse around a heap of car & truck accessory sites to see if I can get a firm lead on one. I know Steptoe's got a hole in the front of his and will been needing a replacement soonish.
I'm also looking for some headlight protectors. Do you remember the ones that were just convex flexible perspex that fitted over the light and held in place by the surround. Sort of like a clear bubble.
When I first moved up here to Childers, I bumped into a chap who had an immaculate RH and he had one of those protectors on it, so someone does make them to fit an 8" light.
Given that these lights are rare and expensive to replace, that'd have to be a very worthwhile investment.

Yes, Pete. That's correct.
Lou, this is what a Beemer fairing looks like with an 8 incher in it.

I haven't seen another one like that

Don't jump in just yet, please Lou. I've sent a query to one of the BM light sellers requesting clarification of the measurements of the lens, as I'm sure all the old R models as advertised only had a 7" light in them. The light housing might be 8 inch in total which is what I'm asking him about. I had to spread the headlight bracket on my R80 R/T fairing by at least an inch to get my real 8" light in there.
The TX's I'm unsure of but i know no xs 650's ever came out with a big'un. The only other yam that i noticed with one was the first XV1000 (Bike of the year!!)
Some mid eighties GSX Suzukis did come with them though they, like the RH, had a fairing to hide the size of the things.
One other thing to watch is getting lights in from overseas as they might have the wrong dip pattern and you would be very unpopular with oncoming traffic.

Are there any other Yamaha's that came out with the 8 inch headlight? I have a crack in mine?
