Pete..now that you ve got a standard.............the front indicators were originally fit with a double filament indicator bulb .Both left and right indicators have a low wattage filament that switches on with the park or headlight on ,and a higher wattage filament for indicator. You may see 2 insulated wires coming out from each of the front indicator stems and the globes and holders have a 2 pin contact base.Your only problem is the loom your using may not accomodate this .

Yes mate. When riding along, both indicators are lit. When you activate the indicators, both lights go off and the indicators work as normal. Once the indicator is cancelled, both indicators illuminate again after about one second.

It's a really simple installation, Pete.
The unit is fully sealed with six wires coming out of it. Two for each indicator plus a earth and a positive that you connect to any switchable live wire. You simply find the live wire going to each front indicator, disconnect them at a handy point, connect the two wires from the unit between the now separated original connectors and you're done there. repeat for the other side, then find the bikes active wire to hook the power to the unit. I fitted a toggle switch on this line so I can turn them on and off whenever I like.
I'll have to get in touch with my mate to see if he still makes them, as his instructions sheets and colour coding made them foolproof, but I'd reckon any of the other manufacturers of these would have a similarly easy setup.

I put my headlight protector back on a few weeks ago. It's been getting just a bit too cool for my liking lately.

Plus, while I was at it, I hooked up a daytime running light kit I got off an old friend some years back.

Makes the bike really stand out in the daylight, plus I think helps show up the brake light better if it's not already lit up by having the lights on.

Hi   The clear bubble headlight protectors are no longer available they came from a company called HANSA  you can get a product called    LIGHT SKINS  very good it is stick on 3mm thick made by 3M  I work at autopro ,Years ago when it first came out we tested it with a slug gun it took a big chunk out the product but never damaged the light  :o

Try to get one without the dip or at least a left side of the road dip and NOT a sealed beam unit.
Units from the US and EU have the dip on the other side so it will upset on coming traffic.

Hmmmm. This is the reply I received from one of the BM light sellers.

Quote
Dear eveready1100,

Chrome bezel is 8 1/8th inches. The lens is about 7 inches wide. Match the #s on Max BMW for certainty. It's really easy

Thanks

So be very careful. You might not get what you think you are getting with advertising like this.
I replied to the guy telling him that it wasn't an 8" light at all and he lived up to his name alright

the stock headlight for mine is the "diving mask" unit .... which I replaced using a round Kawazaki unit
for protection i have used the adhesive plastic protector from supercheap .... works a treat... wouldn'd like to have to remove it tho ....
