didnt get the dual pod filters they were 2 expensive,
and ended up buying pods from mikes xs for 17.50 ea,
i was able to connect the vent tubes to the bottom of the filters,
improved it a little down low, but not as much as i hoped for,
still it didnt run worse and have somewhere for the hoses to attach too.
heres a cpl of pics of the set up

See mate, I knew this would happen.

You are of the other side of this argument on parasitic loading.

We need a Dyno shootout. It's OK, not going to happen mate.

I hope you caught something while you were out there, mate.
I wasn't meaning to into any sort of horsepower discussion, either Fred.
All I was saying was that unless you physically change the ratio of the drivetrain (middle gear, differential, taller section tyre), no matter how many horses you are putting out, the rpm to road speed will be the same, unless the clutch is shot and slips under load, but that would raise the revs as opposed to dropping them.

Hi Errol,

sorry to take so long getting back to you but I've been away fishing.
I do have my priorities ;D

Mate I am not going to set us up for the age old argument of PODS v Standard (untuned) AIR BOXES.

Suffice to say that for me the Proof is in my Tacho readings and words like "Volumetric Efficiency" and "Parasitic Load" can be read about elsewhere.
I sway toward the side of the less restriction, (Pods) on air intake regardless of jet sizing makes for less load on HP at the top end resulting in less RPM required to achieve the same KlmPH.

Without a couple of hours on a Dyno, which I don't have, I can offer no indisputable evidence of this. Others say they have done this and yet others say Bullshit.
Perhaps I've always had a tail wind when the pods are fitted ???
I change mine on a whim to achieve the look I want at the time, not to save 2cents at the pump.

???????????????????????????????????
Err, Fred. How does changing the filters change what the motor speed is at 110kmh?

aaaaaaahhhhh

Never seen them before.

I run 4 single pods some times but swap back to the original every once in a while.

Don't ask why cause I don't know. Just like to change the look every once in a while.
I found that I don't need to change the jetting as performance difference is minimal.
Although in top gear the pods drop the RPMs from 4,100 to 3,800 at 110klh.

hey brian,

that was the link i used to get the part numbers originally, i rang 5 different places
and none of them had the part listed when i asked if they would order them
they gave me a bunch of excuses and pretty much wanted nothing to do with it,
i dont think they would be to cheap either.

in the end i bought the individual pod filters from mikes xs, $17 ea  there oval (same as k&n)  and im
hoping i can put a barb in the bottom of them to connect the vent hoses .

Any K&N dealer will order them for you I'd think. You can get a listing of local dealers here:

http://www.knfilters.com/search/dealersearch.aspx?part=RC-3510

Dimensions for all the dual pods here:

http://www.knfilters.com/search/univdualstroval.aspx

Might be worth trying a Bursons. I bet they'd charge less than a bike stealership.

hi fred,
im currently running 4 individual uni filters,
on the zrx carbs, heres a link to the dual pod filters

http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10955&highlight=dual+pod

heres a link on the .com site of an xs fitted with the dual pods,

i wanted to try these on my carbs as they have vent tubes fitted similar
to the early model mikunins, they have a barb where the vent tubes can be fitted,
was hoping to get a bit more oomf out of the low end.

i sussed out a few places in the states and none of them want to ship here and the
1 that did wanted $150 for shipping.

Pete,

I take it that you've already got another pair or is it for a twin cylinder motor?

If you go to Ebay Stores: "georgefix"  and do an instore search on "xs1100" he sells them as a set of four.

$26.50 and $16.92 Postage = $43.42

I've dealt with him a few times and can recommend him.
