must agree with the k&n devoties , i looked at 3 oem filters on ebay, thank god for zoom, the seal was rotting and in one pic you could even see foam dust in front of it, if their old stock they'l prob be rotten, bought a k&n from my local shop, $72 will see out my days!

No wonder mine has lasted so long - it was getting regular petrol rinses until recently!

Maybe I shouldn't have fixed the float heights after all....

Longevity , construction , type of materials , design/overall quality/value for money is something we all seek.I also have had great service life out of the original filters and to memory have only replaced it once in 90,000 kms.........with the one that is in the bike at present.A bloody great run and  just through neglect of the bike on my part did it need replacing with the one i had prevously purchased as a " just in case " scenario.Hence now i have ordered another one for standby.(Just in case!!!!!) Thanks again for all input.

Agreed Jeff. A wash out in metho and the OEM ones are as good as new.

Last time I needed one, I just went to my local bike shop & they ordered it in for me. Cost about $35, which I didn't find unreasonable at the time. Even though I knew I was possibly paying a slight premium, I was happy to do so to support a new & independent bike store in my own suburb!

Bruce at Yamwreck will have OEM ones I think.

He's worth a visit for the chat. Nice guy and knows his stuff. Folk say he's overpriced, but I don't think he's all that bad.
