Yep. It's always funny until someone gets hurt isn't it... Then it's friggin hilarious!!!!

Here's a little clip of what happened in front of me a little while back. I try to get that falling off thing out of my system in the dirt, it's a lot softer than bitumen.... In this clip I was just about to overtake but had to take evasive action.....

Make sure you keep recording as you fall off.............you may win "Funniest Home Videos".
I m just picturing you riding down the road with one hand on the bars and holding your phone pointed at the rear wheel trying to record the noise just for us.
Ride safe Brudda....!!!!  ;D

oh, I just remembered. there's another difference. The clicking is much more frequent, high pitched and softer. Damn, I wish I had a video camera. When it makes the noise, which I'm sure it will next week on the big road trip I'll try to record it on my phone.

Fantastic Doco Steptoe. I was thinking more like David Attenborough than Village people but everyone has their own personal tastes. Not that there's anything wrong with that... :P... But I do have to admit I love knee pads as well. 25 years as a sparky and I go nowhere without a set nowadays.......

Um , err, sorry to rain on your happy dance 'cause you've certainly fixed the clicking on your bike but on mine, um, err, the clicking is different to what yours is. I will definitely check out the cush drive O rings after my road trip and let you know what I find but mine, well, it seems just too diferent than same same. There's absolutely nothing when I wrestle the wheel like you did on the vid, the spacer makes a very different noise and it only appears when the wheel is warm, like after a bit of a ride. There's still a chance that what mines doing is simply in early stages of what yours is doing because I don't know the history of my bike. It may have only 50K km on it so who knows.....

I WILL find the culprit (unless someone beats me to it) but for now, don't ya just love these bikes? Full of personality and no two are the same..........

cheers

Just stick your finger in past the bearing (either side of the wheel) and see if you can move the spacer towards the outside of the wheel. I can on mine and it makes the noise I heard which started all this.

I thought it might have been the brake torgue plate rattling because the rubber bush on the swingarm where it slots into was so shagged I threw it away. But that's not it. The drive spline is a cush drive isn't it? If the rubbers are a bit worn then they could rattle but the noise would be very dull, not what I have.

Another thought was that maybe, just maybe I hadn't put the wheel on properly. I thought I mightn't have tightened up the nut on the Diff side before tightening up the clamp on the brake side. If I didn't there'd definitely be some sideways movement and the spacer would easily rattle around in between the bearings. I'd checked that and no, she was toight like a toiger.

have been thinking about this all week, rolling up and down,,

got home this arv, and decided to check 1 other thing,,{all of this will be in the vid}

I have a spare wheel machined for the out fit, so I'm looking at the brake disc side and thinking of ways it can move,, { it clicks too, much worse } then I spun the wheel round

there is 1 surface or join or what-ev, that I hadn't considered,,,, I took the drive spline off the wheel,

more work on the w/end  :-\

I was just reading the thread on the UK site and it looks like this noise is only with the Curly wheels. One guy mentioned that he's owned an RH (5K7) for 27 years and the rear has clicked since he got it and never had any issues. For the guy who actually got the spacer out, it would be nice if he took a photo of the spacer.

Bryan, if you haven't reassembled the bearings etc, do you think maybe forcing a smear of Devcon or the UK "bearing fit" into the edge of the sleeve is possible to stop any play in there?

John, the straight spokers are roughly a kilo heavier each
