Many thanks Pete. Carb body came today. Popped it in tonight and bike seems to go well. Will tweak the idle tomorrow and look to get them balanced. I think I owe you a few coldies forr the help.

Cheers mate.

As for the ZRX carbs, I had a bit of spare cash in Paypal at the same time as I was looking for the carb body and couldn't resist a nice clean set of ZRX carbs that came up in Germany for $150. I figured it was a short term plan B if I couldn't find a carb body and a longer term upgrade even if I did find a carb body. I can take my time now and do it properly since you came to the rescue.

They haven't arrived yet, but I'm putting together a list of things to do to get them installed and working.

I'll start another thread for that as I'd appreciate your input and also kiwi's.

Pete,

I'll leave it for now as I am seriously considering the ZRX carbs and dicking around with these ones may be more effort than they are worth.

I'll keep you in mind though as there doesnt seem to be many spares around for these. Yet another good reason for migrating to the ZRX carbs eh?

i just had a look,
ive got a carb body, but the float post
was broken and welded, but not straight,
the float pin sits on a slight angle which u will need to
twist the float a little to suit,
can take a pic 4 u if u want.
can that help u out?

Mate, it would help if you post a picture.

Alternatively, can you ID a unique feature of the 5K7 carb?

I ask because I have a couple of spare sets in bits and pieces but don't know if they are the type you need.

There's a little stamp 5K7 you can see it at top left on this photo.

Other than that there doesn't seem to be any other stamps or model numbers.

The reason I need a new body if possible is that I always had a stumble at 3.5 - 4.5k rpm.  The stumble got much worse on a recent batch of petrol recently so I decided to fully strip the carbs and do the levels etc. On taking a look at the air mixture screws (to richen things up) I found that the PO had, at some stage, tried to drill out the air mixture screw. On removing the carbs I found why. He had screwed the mixture screw down so far that it had got jammed.

In the process of drilling he had destroyed the threads in the chamber on the carb body. Anyone ever made up an insert?

5K7 carb body

Anyone got an old set of 5k7 XS1100RH carbs?

I could do with a no.3 carb body. I don't need a diaphragm or a top, just the body.

Anyone know if they are interchangeable?
