I'm pretty sure you're right. Pete
That's why I was really surprised at the lack of braking power when I switched back to the original calipers on mine, when all the internals are supposedly the same.

The pitting on mine is too bad to polish.Installing new pads has pushed the rough surface in to a point where it  doesn t  knock back after braking Don t want to sand the pad down to take a short cut.Sooooooo........it s time for a newbie. You re thinking the standard models are all the same then? I m not sure and i was wondering why they didn t list the "E" model on their fitament listings. :-\

hi jeff,
i believe there all the same,
how pitted/rusted is urs?
depending on where the rust/pits are
you might be able to clean them up.

Hi guys, can anyone confirm if this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-XS-Brake-Caliper-Piston-XS750-XS850-XS1100-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem588ac3ac89QQitemZ380285201545QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories) is the same one used in my 78e standard.I didn t want to remove mine just yet to simply measure it.Also does anyone have one for sale thats clean and not pitted ?
