They're quite a clever design for their age, eh Pete? I think I did one adjustment on them the first week I had the bike, then when I fitted the Beemer fairing I had to do some minor tweaking to get them to sit right. I just hadn't messed with the bar ends, that's all.
I noticed the guys on the US site go quiet whenever you mention them in any posts about handlebars, too. Might be a tad envious, eh?

I imagine... Mind it looks better now, so maybe it was a devine intervention  ;D

An age back I was working on a side panel on my 78 Goldie K2.. Re-spraing it.. Mobile rang and I stupidly decided to answer it....  Fumble fingers straight out of my hand and , yes you guessed it, bounced right off the just glossed panel.....  Fu Fuuuu Fuuuuuukc.........   Mate I was fuming.. To add insult to injury the caller rang off before the connection.....  >:(

theres a small allen bolt under each arm,
as well as another allen bolt on the side, the side ones
come out fairly easy, but the bottom ones can be a pain,

the other bars i bought were for a triumph or something
similar from an auto spares shop, there at least a grip and a half wider,
made for steering that much easier and quite comfortable to ride.
the stock ones a better for filtering thru traffic tho,
thats a good idea to add an extension to them,
ill give em ago
for a little while and see how they end up.

Can I crate my bike up and get it over to you.......   ;D

Hi Pete. Good job on the case repair. I noticed in your pics of the bars in the oven that you've taken the bar ends off to paint them? I've never touched mine so I don't know if they unscrew or just push in. The stock RH bars are much narrower than the big rototiller bars you had on so the steering will feel much heavier than before, so..... maybe you can get some spacers/ extensions to fit where the bar ends are to extend the bars a bit to give you the extra leverage to make the bike steer easier. Shouldn't take more than about an inch each side to really ease the effort required.
Plus the bike will look totally original cos the joint will be hidden by the grips. Just an idea mate.

why polished alloy is better than chrome
« Reply #37 on: November 10, 2010, 09:15:11 PM »
whilst backing the bike out of the garage,
i gouged/scratched the left side timing cover
on a lawnmowing deck.    >:(

a lot of rubbing back

a polish with the brown rogue on the grinder

then lastly a polish with the white rogue

as good as new
cant do that with chrome.

those sports handle bars make the front end

thanx gary, now ill have to cut the bugger out and center it      ::) :D

i was the same didnt really like it at first
i keep taking it on and off,
but it tends to hide the bits that dont look to crash hot,
without it it tends to look more like a cruiser which suited
the previous handle bars, its starting to grow on me.

The fairing really completes the picture mate. I didn't like the look of them at first, but they're what makes these bike different to the average 80's litre plus bike. They're an integral part part of the icon. The added bonus is that they make our 8" headlight look a lot less imposing.
