No worries mate, I am sure between the two of us we will be able to find one somewhere. Xtrian gave me an alternate idea using a strap attached to the swingarm, so that's another option I have until we come across one.

No worries, Phil. Now I've got an idea of a timeline, I reckon we'll track one down before then. Sussed out a couple of toolkits on EBAY US but they were crap and were missing the vital bits so I'll keep looking. Just remember, I would really hate the idea of you getting your bike rego'd and getting stuck somewhere with a flat and no way to get the wheel off to fix it, so my offer still stands if we don't get one by then, ok?

Hey Eveready, there is no real rush mate as I am still in the process of resoration. Maybe early 2011 she will be ready for rego, but I thought I would put the feelers out and see if any are available. If you happen to see one somewhere I would more than appreciate you letting me know, I am thankfull of your offer to part with yours mate but I couldn't accept it knowing it was from your own personal tool kit. Hopefully the one I  get will be excess stock for someone and it won't be missed. Thanks again mate, awesome gesture.
Cheers: Phil

How urgently do you need it Phil? If you get stuck, let me know and I'll sort something out with you as I've got a Special with the stumpy pipes so I really don't require it for my bike. I was trying to keep my tool kit as complete and original as possible though, so I'll keep a look out on the Net to see if one comes up for you.

Hey Xtian, thanks for the tip mate, it will certainly come in handy if I can't locate the real thing. I can't believe that over the years I have had several  of these tucked away in the corner, and now when I want to find one, they have all disappeared. :(

The hook on the end of mine that goes around the diff. broke ages ago so I just undo the rear shocks and use one of those small tie downs around the swing arm to pull the wheel up.

If that is any help  :-\ :-\ :-\

Hey Phil. Do you mean one of these?

Yes Mate, that's exactly what I mean. I intend on getting a replica exhaust so I will need one of these tucked away in the  tool kit. Haven't seen any for sale anywhere but I will keep looking.

Hey Phil,

they come up on ebay quite regularly at about $25 to $30 inluding the "LEVER hook wire".

Bought mine there but they won't work unless you have original 4 into 2 pipes or aftermarket ones that are as low slung as the original. Definately don't work on my 4 into 1 system and it is not seriously upswept.

It's just a heads up mate. Sorry but mine are not for sale as it makes up the original tool kit for the E model.

Wire Cable for rear wheel
« Reply #1 on: October 05, 2010, 01:29:20 PM »
Hey guys, has anyone got a spare cable that is used to hold the rear wheel above the mufflers so that the axle can be removed. It has 2 sliding hooks that attach to the lugs located on the frame in the wheel arch, and one end is shaped like a small banana with a hook on the end. This is fitted to the bottom shock mount and secured by the looped end of the cable. The other end will have a flat piece of steel (much like a paddle pop stick) with a couple of holes in it for leverage. This end is connected to the lug on the brake side of the swing arm. I will be more than happy to buy this cable from anybody who has one for sale.
Cheers: Phil
