NOT to Hampton for Lunch
« Reply #1 on: August 04, 2010, 12:42:01 AM »
6.30am Sunday August 1st 2010 ? Meet at Albany Creek McDonalds for Coffee
We will head up to Hampton for lunch at the pub.
Russell & Margret (Triumph RS), Jimmy (Triumph Daytona), Dave (Ducati Monster), Neil (Ducati 750) and I set out on a cold clear morning (10degrees) over Clear Mountain, on to Samford, up over Mt Glorious and down onto the Fernvale road, and across to Esk ? Coffee and a pastie ? some refuelled at Esk.
From Esk up the Esk-Hampton Road to Ravensbourne Tip Road, onto Mount Jockey Road and up to Perseverance Dam ? then on to Pechey on the New England Hwy, turn left and into Hampton.
OK ?..so where is the pub??
Turns out that none of us had been there and all thought that the other had?.
Apparently the Hampton Pub burned down some time ago.
So north and into Crows Nest for lunch. Bit early so a quick look at the market.
Roast of the day was the shot ? wash down with a cleansing ale and back to Esk the way we came. Fuel there for some and then north towards Somerset Dam.
Dave and Neil continued north toward Kilcoy and on home to Eumundi.
The rest of us headed southish on the Fernvale Road to the Mt Glorious turnoff (Northbrook Pkwy), up over Mt Glorious then over Mt Nebo and into The Gap.
Here we split up and returned home  ? no break downs, no blood on the walls, no police involvement ? a great day??..
