1800km does sound a tad ambitious for a weekend if I actually want to spend a bit of time in Melbourne - given one of the main reasons for the trip is to keep my future job hopes alive ;)
Perhaps Jetstar and then find a hire shop in Melboune is the way to go.....
Melb - are there any good XS hire shops :) :)

So chaps, if I'm staying in Sydney for a few weeks later on in the year ;D and want to visit the place I worked at in Melbourne is it worth me looking at hiring a bike and making an extended weekend round trip or do I just visit Jetstar.com and do it the easy way? :-\

I had a visit last week by a couple from my old Ulysses branch who were on their last leg of a round Australia trip. As we chatted over dinner that night, the subject of the vast distances involved in traversing our fair country compared to other nations overseas came up.
They've since reached their homebase and the nice lady, Janice was kind enough to send this image to me, to emphasise what we were talking about.

Now, this really puts it in perspective, now, doesn't it??
