Years ago I had a Honda burn out a valve. My mate worked at the Army's Tank workshops at Bandianna near Wodonga.  To get me out of trouble he took a valve out of an old 100E Ford Prefect, turned it down. We stuck it in and off loaded the bike. My record with Hondas has never been good.

Lapping was enough, about 8 hours of it to get them all sealing properly.
Learnt a couple of things on the way, exhaust valves arent magnetic.......you can use that on a trivia night
And the re-hab head has 3 non genuine valves.

I'll get back to you on that, once I've spoken to Craig from Wicked Wheels?

Cheers

What colour is the final drive casing supposed to be on the RH? Mines been home painted black. And Lou, do you have paint colour name/code for the wheels? Thanks

Loving this rebuild, hidden treasures everywhere
Note  the red highlighted bit of gasket 7 oclock, a complete bolt hole out of alignment from where it should be at 8 oclock, not to mention the gasket obstructing the inlet

What I found with the Hi-Vo timing chain in my old Dommie was that the chain looked OK but as the pivot points (the link holes and the pin that joins them) wear the teeth on the chain get wider, the chain then rides up the sprocket and in my case slipped putting the valve timing out.

So it's not only about being loose and noisy but eventually they will slip over the sprocket damaging the crankshaft etc.

Primary chain comparison

Almost as pulled apart as i can get

Interesting tuning adjustments required, also found wrong plugs being used 3 x b6es and 1 bpr6es
