There are leds of different varieties . Most require to face front on to what they illuminate.
Therefore I would say...no...to your query of "will it do if it is not a right angled array.
I would of thought China would of been the home of LED globes on ebay.
Have you been to an Auto store in the UK?

Hi Jeff,
There are right angle led bulbs out there. You plug them in and the board that holds the led's can swivel to the direction you need. The trouble is most are in the US and the price they want to charge for postage isn't worth the effort. That is why I'm asking if a "straight" led bulb would do the job. As you say only members who have done this HOPEFULLY would be able to give me a informed answer.

What are 2 indicator lights going to do.........that a headlight would nt ?
Any led lamp that is right angled would have to coordinate with the bayonet cap holder for correct orientation.
I t will be trial and error regarding this and the brightness required to satisfy your self.
Led globes are usually a larger array than a standard globe....so only you will be able to tell this when you try fitting one .....unless someone has already done this and can direct you as to what will fit in the particular indicators you have purchased.
I suggest you go to an auto shop and or trawl though ebay to find what you need.
What have you done so far regarding this?
It is illegal to have the type of setup you are considering.....here in Australia.
ie....we are not allowed to have fog lights on as an extra measure to be seen.

'm still looking but now I'm stuck.

Story so far.

I have a "SF" and have managed to get a pair of indicators with brackets from a XJ750 to mount on the lower fork yoke like UK xs1100's have.

The object of the exercise is to turn these XJ indicators into "driving" lights with clear lenses.

These light are for me to be seen NOT for me to see.

Therefore they need to be bright but not directional like a spotlight.

The part I'm stuck on is the replacement led bulb I will need.

The bulb needs to be a single point bayonet fitting (like the originals)

Now for the tricky bit.

Seems it needs to be bright and not directional, does it need to be a right angled bulb or do you thing a normal one be bright enough for the job?

Also what power bulb will be bright enough for the job in question?
