Brett,
manual on/off conversion of orignal taps is a piece of piss and free. Just dremmel the little nib off the plate with res/off/pri  and that will allow you turn the knob all the way to the 12 oclock position. now you have an off position. done it to both of my bikes and not had a problem since.

John, waiting on a call from the trimmer about my seat, looks like I wont get it back before I go back to WA. I finally bit the bullet and rebuilt my petcocks, seem to be ok now. I would love a manual on off like Bryans but yes not cheap tried to find other options but cost was always a factor so just rebuilt originals.

Hey Bretts  what are you up to . I am really thinking of changing to after market taps I run secondary filters which are a pain because the room is tight  :-\  but those taps are not  cheap.

I'm an old Air Conditioning tech so I would make them out of copper pipe.  Probably have to spin it down in the lathe to fit properly. Either that or bore some steel rod and turn it down.  I'll have a look at my old taps and report further..........

The bit that protrudes into tap is broken of both of my internal filters :(

Filter looks in good shape So a bit of thread tape around the protrusion that goes into the tap. With a punch taped it home seems OK
if that had not worked I would have tried to center pop tap side still have tape on filter put small washer on alloy tit that locates filter and would have tried to center pop tit to hold washer and secure filter

Did it go back in ok, mine are buggerd. I have tried to glue them in but I figure that's not going to last. Oh I just bought some copper tube. Maybe I can make my own.

The internal petcock filter is probably not isolating from run to reserve. So lower level fuel still gets to run port.  That's what's up with mine anyway.
