righteo then......
All things being equal - having Monday last given Dave Kellett    http://www.davekellettmotorcycle.com.au/   the R6 front and today the Gazi shocks  http://www.gazisuspension.com/shock-absorbers/vmx-hyper-x-380 (340mm long) on top of the frame with TRX swingarm (which he has already prepared, straightened the frame, centred the swingarm, lined up the sprockets) -
I should be picking up the rolling frame early next week (before Dave heads off to the IoM later next week)
I will still have to make spacers for the front wheel, and ensure that the TRX wheel in the R6 forks have the rotors lining up nicely within the calipers (bluespot back in R6 - nice)
M Pitman is quietly confident that Yamaha would have made this work....
Then its back home strip down, paint, rewire (minimalist wiring) and rebuild.
I have already stripped and rebuilt the carbs, the engine will be assembled as soon as no 2 son has a weekend free (he wants it out of his workshop so I don't need to hassle him but he has just started working for himself and is busy)
Thanks to George I have acquired a standard seat base so its onward and upward in the next couple of weeks .....
This weekend tho - I will be on the bunny cull down at Stanthorpe.

a quick round of Kumbaya ...or team building exercise..
Now...Jonesy...arms outstretched to the side ..standing in front of PG with your back to him......
PG...when Jonesy falls backwards .....you ll catch him and keep him safe from hurting himself...then...
reverse the roles .....take 3 deep breaths in and out slowly...then a big man hug.

the ball bearings on steering stem = super-quick steering ,
roller bearings = more drag= firmer, swapped mine to rollers,

Really!

If maintained and adjusted properly who would ever be able to tell the difference?
I'd like to see evidence that a deep groove ball bearing has less drag than a tapered roller bearing.
reckon the only reason the japs went that way was weight saving, maintenance free and economics.

ball bearings way lighter steering,  way more surface area on tapered bearings you
 feel the difference

Also want to borrow a standard seat base to use as a mould for a single seat with pod - 900SS style - sort of....Geeze Brian I've got a seat base you can have.....either that or I'll pull a plug off it for you....pity you didn't sing out sooner...

mystery to me what all those rods are for,
and the bolt thingies..,    also like my vfr front
the ball bearings on steering stem = super-quick steering ,
roller bearings = more drag= firmer, swapped mine to rollers,
and spring-rate 1kg for a 100 kilo rider,  preload  as just a few
mere millimetres, means pop and screw the lids down easy hands only, the fork oil a bit gluggier to slow the plungers inside the cartridge tubes,  can even get fancy and re-shim the
valves to match non-stock spring-rate etc.. etc..

Jones, my very good young friend.....
the originals are aluminium, but we've only been able to source brass rod for the extended rods thus far...
Action Aluminium have an outlet at Geebung, 10 mins from mine BTW

Horn,
Engineering shop with a travelling steady on there lathe would be able to turn it down to the dia you want,
but then it depends on how much you want to spend to lose the weight, Just thinking out loud, maybe the japs  R&D dept had a reason to go brass, they've certainly got the dosh to go lighter..
