Pick up wire maybe?
« Reply #1 on: June 15, 2015, 07:10:17 PM »
G'day,

As some of you might know, I've recently sorted out a number of electrical issues and the bike was perfect for about an hour and a half.

I seem to lurch from one catastrophe to another.

What's happening now is this.

Riding home from work, the engine stopped as though I had hit the kill switch.  I had all electrical functionality except the starter button.

I scratched my head, hit the starter button and it fired right up.

Off I went for about ten seconds when it happened again.

This has been going on for about four days.

Each time it happens, I have no engine power at all but all the electrics work (apart from the starter button)

It happened once while rolling down hill at speed and I couldn't clutch start it. No ignition, but all of a sudden, it started up.

It's been getting progressively worse to the point now that I can't get anything to happen when I hit the starter button.

I've had to leave the bike on the side of the road and walk home.

I thought there may be a problem with the pick up wire, but that shouldn't stop the engine from cranking and a faulty starter button shouldn't have any impact on a running engine so I'm stumped.

Any thoughts?
