It was a great event, alright!
Congrats to Bryan and the Club Laverda boys for staging a fantastic show.
And it was good to catch up with Bryan, John and Tim after the disappoinment for me at rally time, plus I got to meet Raf and have a chinwag for the first time.
It's understandable that you didn't have much spare time to socialise while holding the reins for the show, Bryan.
One day, I'll get down that way when we've both got some vacant time to do some XSive chatting.
Jonesey, it'd be nice if you could make it up next year so we could have a macho maroon E to complement the display tent just to cap it off.
I had a couple of quite funny moments during the course of the day.
The first one happened while I was looking at this bike and the owner came over for a quick chat
To steal a quote from Tim's post, I told the owner that "I used to have one of these"
To which he asked "what do I ride now?"
I replied "an XS1100"
He said "You've come a long way, then"
And the discussion carried on for some time extolling the virtues of the various models
I thought that conversation was quite amusing.
The second one was a bit after lunch when I heard a commotion from behind the trailer. It was a chap in Ulysses gear who was crying out "who owns this, who owns this?" so I wandered out to where he was and I introduced myself as the owner of the alleged trailer, then he introduced himself as the new president of the Redcliffe Ulysses branch along with the new secretary of the Branch, neither of whom I'd seen before, and they hadn't met me or seen this outfit until now, so I suppose he was permitted to be fairly surprised to finally see it like this after my total absence of about 7 years from their ranks
^ Note - file photo. Not from the day
I've now been requested to get to a couple of upcoming events hosted by my old branch to get to know the next generation and show my package off to the rest of them.
Lastly, besides it raining lightly all the way from Chevallum to Howard, I'm really happy the way the weather panned out for the big day.
