No need for injuries - of course you can help - the good thing about the spit is it is self sufficient pretty much - turn it on and let it go - and it wouldn't need to go on until about 2.30-3.00 so if you lot got yourselves organised and left for the ride on time  :o - hahahahahahaaha - then no-one would need to stay behind

Hi Michelle,

Let me take the pressure off Geoff with the spit so he doesn't get the second one wrong, I nearly dislocated my shoulder just then to put my hand up for that gig, if the majority decide on a spit then someone needs to look after it, if that means missing out on the day ride well so be it. Regardless of what everyone decides on even if it's a BBQ I'm there to help.

Cheers

Lou

Hi Hen - No drama with organising catering so long as we have DEFINITE numbers and payment the week before.
This place has an oven so i am very excited  :D
If the numbers are up i have been looking at maybe hiring a spit for the saturday night and roasting a beast of some sort  - no Scotty not you!
Geoffrey is almost an expert at spit roasting now - having done one in the last 40 something years - but he is pretty good at bbqing in general so we should be safe.
If anyone has any suggestions for anything over the week-end please put them forward

This place looks OK seems to tick the boxes for all types of accommodation(Little S).  is there some where we can put our bikes under cover( mine likes to be pampered) .?? I liked Burke were we could put  them up the path to the  unit or are these things I have to find out .
Mrs S will it be a pain to plan the catering?? What happened to Burke???

Sounds like the Right Ks for me and the non believer. How about Brett's.

Hey Jonesy mount panorama sounds OK there must be some other things to see and ride too I bet Bryan has been up that road, would like to try the 60  km throttle on now my engine has a few ks on it (Bryan, Little Scotty).
Can we have a fire???

After much much much investigation we have come up with the following for the weekend of Friday 1st May 2015 - Sunday 3rd May.

 Visit - http://www.visitwellington.com.au/stay/caravans-cabins-camping/wellington-caves-holiday-complex

Take a trip back in time and explore the Wellington Caves.

Included in the complex are two magnificent show caves, the Cathedral and the Gaden, along with a series of smaller caves. These include the Water Cave and the challenging River Cave, which are open to only the most experienced cave diving enthusiasts.

The Phosphate Mine is another feature and attracts plenty of visitors annually.

The Bottle House is the newest attraction at the Caves Complex and is constructed from over 9,000 wine bottles - i would like to add my contribution to this  :)

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the Wellington Caves exactly?

The caves are situated on the Wellington Caves Reserve, just 8kms south of the town of Wellington and a straight turn off the Mitchell Highway.

Wellington seems to be within 20klm of being half way between Adelaide and Bundaberg - about a 1200 klm distance. ;D

Accommodation is as follows:
Following is a breakdown of room layouts:
Park Cabin: 1 x double bed and a set of triple bunks (only suitable for children under 12 years). There are 4 of these.
Standard Unit: 1 x double bed and 2 x sets of bunks (adult size). There are 7 of these.
Golf View Unit: 1 x double bed; 1 x single bed and 1 x set of bunks (adult size). There are 5 of these.
Golf View Disabled Unit: 1 x double bed; 1 x set of bunks (adult size). There are 2 of these.
The Standard Units are close to the 'Camp Kitchen' and the 'Rec Room'.
All units and cabins are fitted with a small bathroom and a furnished kitchenette; blankets and pillows are supplied however linen and towels are avialable to be hired or bring along your own.
The 2014 costs for the accommodation per night:
Park Cabin: 2 adults $75
Standard Unit: 2 adults $88; extra adult $16.50
Golf View Unit: 2 adults $98; extra adult $16.50
Powered campsite: 2 adults $29; extra adult $8
Unpowered camp site: 2 adults $22; extra adult $7
Linen: Double (sheets, pillow cases, towels and a bath mat) $13 once only fee; Single (sheets, pillow case and a towel) $9 once only fee.

We intend to go back to self catering like we did in Burke - please appreciate the logistics of this when we start asking for final numbers as a bit of planning and organising goes into making sure it all runs smoothly.

As always your comments, suggestions or feedback is welcomed  :-*
