Seems they are readily available, for $8each and can be had in a few days,
so as Grant suggested check your local yamaha dealer.

Paul,

Maybe give dave and jamie a call at Bikestop, they just picked me up original exhaust gaskets off the microfiche for the 78 direct from Yamaha. You never really know what Yamaha may have...

I've emailed cindy for postage price and checked your link
prefer to go with a new seal but your fix looks like a good option too
I'll probly get 3 seals, one each for my pair of cycles and one for the shelf

Here's a link to a past discussion regarding the Camchain plug modifications , if you feel the need for a home remedy, Jonesey - CLICKY

Or.............. you can go here to SPEED and SPORT inc. and order a new genuine seal from them.
According to this page,

^ if you look right at the bottom of the parts listings on the pic, they have 88 of them in stock.
Drop Cindy an email get a price on postage (I've found them very reasonable )

try your local bearing shop, Central Bearings or similar - take the old one or the tensioner and they will have something that will fit -
buy a couple I suggest. ;D

Jonesy...............who knows what will turn up.......but if it s the rare bird I think it is........they are extinct.
I d buy a tube of black silicone....clean out any residue of oil.... and squeeze just enough in the end of the adjuster to make a plug.
Or......adapt something like this......

cam chain tensioner plug seal

Anyone got a source for the little plug seal bit that goes in the end of the cam chain tensioner? I've checked yambits and Z1 enterprises but they've got nothing listed.
its item 15 in the clymer manual exploded drawing of the cam chain and tensioner assembly.
