new link that might work better,

sorry for the stuff up. new at this computer thing
as for damage to the motor, with the compressed, oiled foam the motor is still working for its air, if you look at the size of the hole in the paper it purposely not much bigger than the original filter.   I wasn't sure when I did it that it would work, but having given it some 8 weeks it works very well.

Yeh! says timed out?
This all seems like a lot of work (very inventive but) and possibly damaging to the heart of the machine for for a few bucks for a new filter.
My K+N filter is still as new after about 40K klm and is only, from memory, I think about the fourth or fifth one in 320,000klm. I'm a firm believer in don't screw with what works well.

my self,,, started out of necessity, my filter had gone by the way side.
my first one died so I made one from thin foam inside the original wire cage, but wasn't real successful. :'(
Christian,, putting the filter in the air duct would be way constrictive,, as for a plenium chamber, those things need to be designed with some form of science behind them to work effectively, I've been told

not sure why you guys are mucking about with it but I have seen a aluminium box feeding the carbs with a single largre pod filter external (like the pods used on commodores and turbo car engines)

I am thinking of changing the way the air filter works as well.
Also found the empty cage effect so the foam shot out the exhaust at some stage.
Maybe back to the original paper element filters is a better idea???
I was thinking abot putting the filter up were the elephant trunk is any thoughts on that? or would it be too restrictive.
