well,  mini led blinkers,  I've tried them,  soon realized they were rubbish,  went back to original large 12V bulb type,  the mini-led type are gimmicky and not real-deal. In the Harley bling category...  Too dull, weak and small to be of any real use,  and won't auto-cancel or even flash on an XS11 without resistors and junk,  original setup way better

I do like the look of the original indicators. Mine are woefully dim but. The auto cancel still works. I would like to test some after market ones with a resistor..

ows the fairing going? Worked out mounts etc?. I can paint it if you want. Matt or Gloss black. Acrylic black with 2 pack clear is the best; but I dont spray 2 pack.  Can do a good job with Acrylic clear. Matt black would look pretty stealthly.....

Hey Chrisso
if thats the speedo that was on it when it left sunny wallerawang....its an xj650 speedo so an RH round tacho will slot right in and match
what happened to the front blinkers? they used to be on short stalks off the cooler and mounted 90 degrees turned around from that photo. same as the back ones

sorry not the best pics. As you can see I have ''minimilist instruments. '' I think Auto-one have small round tacho's of similar size to speedo. As long as it reads to 9,000 rpm shld be the go ??

My only instrumentation is a round Smiths speedo. So I want something that looks similar.

Chrisso,

can I ask? why an aftermarket Tacho?

a secondhand genuine would be much cheaper and already calibrated to the engine

Also on the short list is to fit an aftermarket Tacho. Ive got a stainless bracket somewhere I Laser cut ready to mount above and off the 2 speedo mounting bolts. Had the Carbs syncro-ed not long ago. Dont do a lot of miles on the old girl. Always starts 1st go with half choke.  Especially since I fitted the new super duper Yellow battery last winter. Before that I'd always gone with the cheap Chinese crap. I' ll slow the idle down a bit.
Its just impatience I guess with getting a bike up to idle.  I still have all the records.
I got the XS on 19/12/2000 at 184,221 km.
Its now on 206,500 km.  Hardly run in really....
trying to post a pic of the battery but I realise Im not on Facebook and I have to go thru Imageshack or similar bullshit. Too fucking hard..

mate just slow the idle down when its up to temp, might be a tad slow when cold, but I dont know any other solution unless a carby synchro is also in order. the aerostart test pretty much proves the leak test is ok and cracking in the rubber is just external and not all the way through

Ive noticed the bike idles a lot faster when the engine is warm. I was thinking its the inlet manifolds. Mine are a bit old and cracked.( On my short list to replace). If they let air in the engine would lean out and idle higher?? My mate who's a bike ( Actually Scooter) mechanic suggested running bike and spraying Aerostart at them. Did this ---no noticeable increase in RPMs. I dont have a tacho so cant say what its idling at.  Cheers, Chrisso. .
