Powder coating is not as repairable as paint.

Hey thanks for the tip guys, will take on board all your comments. and I already spoke to the Blaster guy and he assured me he would be gentle around the frame number. As a precaution I have removed the compliance plate prior to giving it to him. I am a little worried about the paint, as I thought it may fill the numbers and I don't need any extra hassles from the RTA. It will be hard enough handing over all that cash just so it will be leagal, I think it's unadulterated robbery on the governments behalf. But no other choices so have to learn to live with it eh.

good buying mate and looking forward to following the remake. ;D

when you get the frame back check that the RTA can read the VIN and ID Plate on the neck. ::)

Once, when I had mine powder coated I didn't check it and when I got to the rego point they made me cut away the coating with a pocket knife, even though you could read it if you really tried. >:(

just a tip,,,,,,,,wish some one had told me

buy your self a couple of  taps, to clean out EVERY threaded hole on the frame of paint and glass,,,

before the re-assembling stage

will stop the bolts/studs binding up then shearing off,,,, creating a heap of other probs

will also help with the bolts used for earthing

Woo Hoo, the restoration begins. Dropped the frame and some other bits off at the Glass Bead Blasting shop today, and will be picking them up on Tuesday next week. Then it's off to the painters for a fresh coat of "Blue/Black 2PAC". Its all starting to take shape and should look OK when it hits the road again some time later this year. I have included some pic's of the progress so far. 1st pic is when I purchased it from a guy in Albury NSW on March 13, 2ND and 3rd pics are mid strip down taken on March 20, and 4Th pic is ready to be blasted on Sunday March 21st. I have been waiting for the young bloke's mate to come good on his offer to blast and paint the frame since March 28, I couldn't wait any longer as the youth of today has no urgency about them at all. So I sourced a local "Glass Bead Blaster" and a well known paintshop in the local area. Will post more pic's as it happens, if anyone wants to see.
