That would be great Bryan, make sure you put your return address on the package because your on my Christmas card list this year. Misses threw the last package out before I took note.
Do you still have my address?

It is becoming apparent that the XS650 (edit) speedo drive Ratio is the same as the xs1100 speedo drive Ratio.

See this one selling in Germany is stated for all models with a 19" tire  ???
Speedo drive
Anyway I have taken the plunge and bought this speedo
Speedo

It runs gear ratio 1400RPM @ 60KMPH or 2240RPM @ 100Kph which I understand is the same as the XS650 and the same as the XS1100.
Still need to purchase the speedo gear and speedo cable. Thinking I will get the xs1100 ones.

Thanks Jonsey,
I got this from posting similar question on the .com site

The 650, 750, and 850, all had the same ratio and can (and have been) be used.

I guess if I get the speedo that suits the 650 and a speedo drive that suits the 650 then I should get the cable from the 650!

problem solved, that speedo drive will go straight on, I've previously fitted an XS1100 drive to XS650 wheel, so doing what you want to do will be no prob

I like the vote of confidence Jeff but I reckon the most I may have done with a motorbike speado cable is take the broken one off my bike and throw it in the bin.

Well lets start with the xs650 speedo drive Jonesy.

EBAY XS650 Speedo Drive
It sure looks the same?

Then I should be able to use this speedo?
Speedometer - Chrome Mini 60mm

Speedometer - Chrome Mini - 2.25" Diameter (60mm) - Black face, 0-220 Kilometers per HR for Yamaha 650's. Internal illumination and Indicator lights. (High Beam, Signal & Neutral Light). Resettable Tripmeter. Calibrated for 19" front wheel. 2:1 ratio.

I reckon if you can get a speedo drive to fit our forks and axle from whatever model bike speedo takes your fancy it will work
getting another speedo drive to fit is the challenge...............do you have make and model of other bike speedo that you want to fit?

Speedo drive swap and ratio's
« Reply #1 on: November 14, 2013, 05:45:39 PM »
I am still hunting for just the right Speedo and I have become curious about wether the speedo drives are interchangeable and if this would solve the ratio difference. It seems/looks like most Yamaha speedo drives are the same. The XS ones at least but I have seen others as well.
Surely some one else would have done this if possible.
Also it seems some have worked out the XS1100 ratio as 2.9:1 and the xs650 as 2:1 as most other bikes.
Yet some still claim to use any of the XS speedo's from Mikes XS with no problem.
I will need a new speedo drive and cable in any event if I stick with mechanical and now I see there is also adapters you can get that will vary the ratio to fix a speedo out of wack anyway.
Any advice would be appreciated.
