So I take it you have the tubeless rim Errol and that is the thinner spoked wheel. Mine is the tube rim and is the thicker spoked rim.
Ok thanks Bryan that explains it, had a review and see you used a spacer to centre the wheel but no disk spacer. Sux that ours gives no clearance even with a couple of 3mm spacers.

Hey Jonesy, Mal is keen on milling the plate down where the callipers bolt on 2mm and swap the disc spacer from 3mm to 5mm which is the same thing as what you say essentially. My main concern here is on the right side there is a circular ridge that slots into the hole of the disk (similar to how a grinding disk is held in the centre) once we go to a 5mm spacer I reckon there will be very little if anything holding that disk in place besides the bolts. With our limited engineering budget it worries me that we are now a fair change away from the original tested engineering.
Did you notice this on yours?

Thanks Makzy, does that mean yours is the tubed rim?

And........... as quick as that, I got a reply on the US site pointing me to a thread there where it's all there in black and white - CLICK

As Steve states, the tubeless wheels are a different casting which in finished form weighs about 1/2 kg lighter than the tubed type wheel, which puts it roughly in the middle of the tubed straight spoker and the swirly one. (anyone got an XJ that might want to check its tubeless swirlies??)

I couldn't even contemplate a caliper swap without a completely different set of fork sliders at least, or some major machining to get the legs to accept a conventional caliper.

Brett,
you can put a washer between fork leg lugs and brackets for each bolt to get clearance from the wheel, but you'll also have to put same thickness washers under the discs to maitain the position of the disc inside the caliper.
lot cheaper option than sourcing a different wheel

wrong about the spacers behind the rotors - I have none, the rotor is bolted straight to the wheel.....

Thanks Bryan, It is interesting that outside of your disks are almost one mill narrower than Errol's. If I remember right Errol has the standard brakes and you Bryan have a 2mm spacer behind the disks to accommodate the blue spots. I would think that should of made them about 3mm wider?
Mal might need to get hold of a few wheels of the bike and check some measurements. I think us with the wider wheel might be better with the thinner but more expensive brembo callipers. With the blue spots we will need the 5mm spacer to get the 2mm clearance.
I am meant to have taken mine of the bike and send them back to Mal to be modified but been enjoying riding it too much with the new exhaust. Plus it is shit weather and I don't have a shed let alone a heater in it  ::)
I keep checking the blue spots although there is a bees dick clearance there is still not a single touch and I am getting gamer to pull the brakes hard at top speed but gota have some room for murphy in the long run.
Would it be easier to swap to a thinner wheel maybe?

sure thing Bretto......and yes, the wheels are "itallics"

overall the rotors

inside the rotors

I wasn't able to get a pic of the spoke width at the outside of the rotor but the dimension is 27mm neat
Similarly, this pic of clearance between rotor and caliper - clearance is 2.2mm

Brett, Bryan's running swirly wheels on his, but his measurements could help supplement the info needed for this swap.
BTW, I've mirrored part of this thread onto the UK & US sites to try to maximum information across the board.

Good onya, Brett. Looks like I'm going to have to fast forward my planned wheel bearing replacement now so I can strip the wheel completely bare and weigh it, as there has to be a marked reduction in weight with that much difference in spoke width.
Could be a good thing, eh Bryan?

Thanks Guy's, sure seems that way Errol, you would think almost 7mm is a difference that would cause some trouble.
Some one with the blue spots that fit easy with the same measurement as Errol would be pretty conclusive.
Oh and remember it was Mal with the smarts not me  ;)
