I might have to make a final decision once I pick up my frame tomorrow and look at the tank/frame and then see what engine color would match - whether that would be gloss/satin black or silver/alloy.

Pete,

Did you lay down any primer prior to spraying the gloss black?

no mate, just layed it straight on,
but obviously cleaned it well before hand.

its a custom colour, but yes i said i wanted something close to gunmetal grey or pewter silver and the grey was darker which to me suited the gloss black frame better. i was going to add pearl and glitter etc but that would have been to much of a drama queen and pain in the ass to match/touch up.

So its been quite a while since I've purchased my bike. Since then, haven't ridden it once before as I've stripped it down and slowly building it back up. You've probably since my post where my wiring harness is a mess and that I've rewired and simplified it .

Fast forward about six months, Ive finally got around to getting the frame and tank painted today thanks to my brothers mate who's a painter and the use of his bosses workshop.

So since the frame is in 2pak, I wonder what I can do about the engine to match it? Would spray can suffice? The painter said he's never painted an engine before.
