Thanks for your reply Eveready, will check out links later tonight.

Cheers XSSIIE might contact you if I'm unable to get her going.

Are these bikes ok to be left on the side stand?

Was a mission last night to get it sitting on the centre stand. There must be a trick....

Hi Jason, and welcome to the clan.
I wouldn't call it a brain explosion. I'd call it a wise educated decision for your long term enjoyment of motorcycling.
And you didn't really pay too much for the bike, as it is a complete bike in what looks to be very reasonable condition.

if it was me, I'd just concentrate on getting it running well first, spend some time on the road learning the bike, then later decide which way you want to go.

Have yourself a good read through the posts on here. In particular the ones about carb cleaning, as these bikes are very finicky as far as cleanliness inside the carbs is concerned. Once done, though, if usung inline filters as well, they seldom call for much more attention than the occasional synching.

Hi,

Just joined this site following my impulse buy last night 27/5/13 of the 78 xs1100 advertised on flee bay.

I wasn't thinking of buying an xs1100, never even heard of one until 2 days ago. By chance it was around the corner from where I live (Botany) and seemed like there wasn't much interest.

Anyways not to sure about the true value of the bike so as the title states brain explosion.

Do I restore, cafe, bobber, chopper, sell or scrap metal???

The bloke I bought it off said it would idle ok but was leaking fuel out of the carburettor. Chrome seems to be in pretty good nik, no dings in tank, side covers look like they have been repaired, tyres look new.

Battery needs to be replaced. Will charge it for now and see if she's a runner.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers
Jason
