Before my errrr "Full Time Retirement"  ??? to the farm my E was my daily commute (+45C or -14C :o).

It did a nice job of it too. Six days a week at a leisurely lope through approx 160klm daily.

As for the lightweight commuter, well that's all relative isn't it? Wasn't much of an issue for my rather svelte figure 8) at 141kg.

Oops! I meant the bit about it being light.
Not the commuting bit. They're probably one of the best big bikes for the commute by the tractability of the motor, and they're not too wide for filtering.

Yep,

They are a fantastic commuter.  I use my RH every day (unless it's pissing down) to ride the 30k to work in Sydney peak traffic.

It has the get up and go when you need it, is loud, other motorists avoid me and it's a comfortable ride.  Best commuter I've had.

Great to hear you can actually ride your bikes. And you haven't lost your sense of humour, either.

I have NEVER heard anyone refer to an Xs11 as a commuter bike before. Mind if I use that line in the future?

Pity you can't have your bike meet our rally carb guru, Steptoe. He'd get it sorted in no time.
Actually, any chance you can make the Club Laverda Concourse? He could do a fix there on the spot.
BTW, if you do get her running better, maybe temporarily swap the rear shocks for some 345mm units which make putting the XS on the centrestand a breeze. I can put mine up while still sitting on the bike!

I'm slowly getting better each week  :D
A bit scary since it was August last year when I had the operations.

looking back I seem to be getting better, I'm able to go solo shopping now, spend 2 days mowing the weeds instead of 4 AND I can ride for 2 days now  ;D.

I can hold the FJR up and move it around but still can't get it onto the centre stand.
Was going to Western Australia for a FJR get together but bummed out on day 2, my guts felt like they were falling out.

The XS has been sitting around for so long now, I'm thinking of selling it.
I was going to get it up and running so I can use her as a lighter commuter bike for around town.
I've drained the carbies and fuel tank and fresh fuel, but it's not running right at the moment, maybe clogged jets I suspect.

I have another operation planned in the future, to get rid of my nappy (stoma), so that's going to bugger me up for another 3 months.

Here is a link for the Owners Manual on my Google drive https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1wsPIhAZChyQ256b2ZkZlJsTmc/edit?usp=sharing

Nice one, Ken!
It's good to see you're still kicking.  :) :)
Any idea when you'll be ride-able ?

Hi,

Been a bit bored around the house, still getting over my operations I had last year.

So, I scanned my owners manual for the XS, it's in good condition and far better than the one Yamaha has listed for download.

I think the link will be OK for 90 days and about 22 M in size.
