turn signals - how are they wired up?

 A lot cheaper if you can wait for it to be sent from OS. It also makes a beeping sound like a reversing truck when on. Apparently you can get inside and snip the wire to stop the sound but I kinda like it for now. Made me laugh when I first heard it. I was in denial until I turned the indicators on and of 3 times.

The original has three terminals. You will most probably have to swap the wires around a bit. I did on the $36 one from the local store and don't know what is the original orientation any more.

This is the one I use on my bike, running all leds just have to get around to doing the cancel circuit but that is just lazy.....

With my limited electrical knowledge I have read that the standard/OEM type flasher relays wont work unless there's about 40 or so watts of load on them, so the low wattage LED blinkers need a resistor or some do hickey added into the wiring (or get a relay suited to the LED's ?) I just made that bit up but it makes sense to me.

Hi Christian               These links are not opening for me. Could you send me a copy pls if you still have them?
I am looking to go to leds.       The three wires from the indicator switch have come adrift and theres not much to solder to. Does anyone know if the xs750 switches are compatible as I there may be some here locally.      Bought dyno coils for it so getting closer to making some noise

OK got the turn signals working - thanks guys!! I couldnt find the relay that came with the xs1100 so I had to use the xs650 one.

Does anyone have a spare turn signal flasher replay they want to part with?

yeah you need a flasher relay, it goes under the fuse box. If you got the flasher relay and it doesn't work some times with a tired battery tapping it will make it flash



or the little black box under the other side cover can play up and stop your blinkers working. It can be removed with no ill effects. just means you'll have to cansel the blinkers manually like 99.9% of other motorcycles do that's the little rectangle do hickey on the left side of the battery

btw I have removed the reserve lighting unit BUT I dont recall having a turn signal flasher relay (is 1 required?)
