 :PI was training for a role in the Bald and the Beautiful.  Bugger me I just realised that was twenty years ago.  How much more handsome am I now.  :-* :P

You  used the bearings on the stand as training wheels, didn't you?

These are pictures I just found of my old XS which was destroyed in a shed fire.  Taken in about 1993. With the BMW R100RS fairing it was lovely to ride here in the cold country. I always took off the lower fairing in the summer to make it cooler to ride.

BTW the Centre stand was one I made myself from RHS and had bearings welded to the botton of it to turn the bike around in my shed. I used to tilt the bike on the side stand and insert a Holden wheel brace through it to retain it. If you look carefully you can see the Brace handle hanging down.
